Connecticut Dairy Project

Project Overview

The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ARE) leads this study of the Connecticut dairy industry as part of an USDA grant, provided by the Fund for Rural America.

Objectives

  • Assessment of the competitiveness of the Connecticut dairy industry.
  • Determination of the extent and profitability of various alternative income sources for dairy farms in Connecticut.
  • Analysis of the status and long-term trends of agricultural land use, open space, and farmland preservation programs within Connecticut.

Objectives

  • Analyze the demand for farmland preservation in the state and New England.
